Real Estate In Panama
Submitted by: Ramon Roux.
What kind of business you have in Panama is only limited by your imagination. With real estate sales and purchases booming, the tourist trade increasing, and a Free Zone area where no commercial licenses are needed and no taxes charged, having a business in Panama is a very lucrative deal. But what kind of real estate is available for your venture?
A resort is a big option in Panama. With two coastlines of warm oceans, sandy beaches and clear water, any enterprising business man or woman would boom. Amenities can range from spa like services to tourist guides to shopping trips. Even if you didn’t want to run your own resort, you could look into setting up a business in one of the many that can be found there. Look at what is currently at each resort and if this type of business interests you, find a service that is currently not being offered.
Other commercial property includes farm land. Teak trees are very common in Panama and the wood is wanted by builders all around the world. By harvesting the teak, a potential investor could bring in a substantial income. There is also commercial property available to build your own business from the ground up.
Another option is to look for property in the Colon Free Zone that is available for rent or purchase. The Colon Free Zone is the second largest free zone in the world and the largest in the western hemisphere. In the free zone, businesses do not require commercial licenses to operate and no tax is paid on income from exports within it. Companies that operate here do not have to worry about tariffs or quotas on their imports and exports. This basically means that the company can operate almost free with a minimal amount of laws and controls. Its located forty-five minutes from Panama City, not a bad drive on a lovely day.
Of course, an investor could also look into property in one of the many shopping districts and open-air malls that litter Panama. These markets offer everything from fashion, brand name clothing to beautiful crafts and native made product. If you are a craftsman looking to sell your wares, especially if retired and just looking for some spending money, these open markets could be a good idea. The investor could rent the space and keep most of the profit they make. Handcrafted items are a big seller in this type of environment.
There are other commercial properties available, from the twisty cone shape of the Resolution Tower to a private house property on a river perfect for a spa. An investor simply needs to know what kind of business they want to start and then look into what kind of properties are available before making a choice. The Free Zone is also a good option for a business. Know what you need, have your budget prepared, and get ready to meet the many faces of Panama as they come and go from your business.
